猫って、特に教えなくても、ちゃんとおしっこやうんちくんは、猫砂（ペレット）の中で、小さい子でもすぐにそこでするんです。賢いです！
ただ、たまにマットの上でしちゃうんですよね。。。1回、そこでしちゃうと、臭いがついているのか、また同じところでするようになるので、いつも消毒したりしてるんですけど、にゃんこの鼻はとても良いようで。。。
一緒にいないときは、危ないことをしないように、プレイペン（ベビーサークルの猫用なので、上にも網を張ってある）の中に入れているのですが、その中に置くトイレを２つにしてみました。すると、ちゃんとそこだけでするようになったんです。どうも、この子たちの中では、うんちくんとおしっこは別のトイレと決めているようで、解決できました！
が、自由に動ける子猫の部屋（１つの部屋全部を子猫部屋にしています）では、隠れて遊んだりできるように、低いテーブルの上に、テーブルクロスをひいて、隠れ家的な場所を何か所か作っているのですが、その中でうんちくんをするようになってしまったんです！
はー！子猫というやつは。。。可愛いけど手間がかかりすぎる、、、
仕方ないので、クロスをとりはらい、オープンにして、おしっこシートをひきました。今のところ、大丈夫です。
毎日、プレイペンの中のシーツやタオルは全部替えて、部屋の中のシーツも汚れているものは替えています。これが結構、大変ですが、清潔なところで気持ち良く過ごしてほしいので、頑張っています。
毎日、洗濯ばかりやっているような気がしますが、洗剤は、あまり入れていません。水洗いでもいいくらいだとは思っているのですが、やはりにおいがあるので、少しだけ入れています。あまり洗剤のにおいがキツイのはよくないかなって思っていますが、乾燥機でフワフワになった、少し暖かいシーツが子猫たちは大好きで、いつもたたむ前に、からまって遊んでいます。何をしても遊びにつながる子猫たちです。
Cats, even without much training, instinctively use the litter box for both urination and defecation. They’re clever! However, occasionally they might go on a mat instead… Once they go there, it seems the smell lingers, and they tend to go back to the same spot. So, I’m always sanitizing it, but it seems a cat’s nose is quite keen…
When I’m not around, I put them in a playpen (specifically for cats, with mesh on top for safety), so they don’t get into trouble. I decided to try putting two litter boxes in there, and they started using them perfectly. It seems these kittens have decided on separate places for urination and defecation, so the issue was resolved!
However, in the room where the kittens have free roam (I’ve converted an entire room into a kitten area), I’ve set up low tables with tablecloths to create hiding spots for them to play. Unfortunately, they’ve started using these hiding spots to do their business!
Ah, those kittens… They’re adorable but so much work…
I had no choice but to remove the cloth, leave it open, and lay down pee pads. So far, so good.
Every day, I change all the sheets and towels in the playpen, and replace any dirty sheets in the room. It’s quite a hassle, but I want them to feel comfortable in a clean environment, so I’m doing my best.
It feels like I’m doing laundry all day, but I don’t use much detergent. I think it’s okay to just rinse with water, but there’s still a smell, so I add just a little detergent. I don’t think it’s good for them to have a strong detergent smell, but the kittens love the warm, fluffy sheets that come out of the dryer, and they always end up playing in them before I fold them. They turn everything into a toy, those kittens.
